Cooking Light Ad

This was a timed assignment in which we were asked to create a 4 5/8" x 4 5/8" ad for Cooking Light Magazine for a series of workshops to be given by Chef Bruno. Several high-resolution photographs were provided by the instructor, Melissa Bean. We were to create an ad for a workshop, using one of these images.

"Lost" book

This book was created for a Typography class, and we were to use a poem written by students in another class. We were limited to one typeface, as well as certain size specs. I wanted to give the book the look and feel of something old...something that had perhaps been lost itself. The last frame shows the process I used to create the book.

The Lost Book recently won a National Gold ADDY Award. It also won a 2009 Gold Louie Award, and a 2008 LGDA 100 Silver Award.

Bauhaus poster

For this project, we were to create a contemporary poster in the style of an assigned period of design. I was given the Bauhaus period, which was an important design movement that centered around the Bauhaus School in Germany during the 1920's and early 1930's. Although there is no real "Bauhaus Style," the colors and geometric shapes in this poster were chosen to mimic those used in similar posters of that period. The symbol in the upper, right corner was the Bauhaus School logo.

This poster was the winner of a 2009 Silver Louie Award,
and a 2008 LGDA 100 Silver Award.

MegaZine cover

The scope of this project was to design a cover which reflected the content and theme of a group magazine. Each person's article was written about a life-changing event. The text on the cover also includes the Ivy Tech theme of "Changing Lives." The words can be read in several ways, changing the meaning, depending on how it is read.

This cover was the winner of a 2010 Gold Louie Award.

MegaZine article

This is the article that I wrote for the MegaZine. As a group, we determined the basic magazine layout, which included the fonts, folios, and navigational bars. Each person wrote and designed their own article, as well as the table of contents, the props page, several ads, and other pages. All forty pages were then assembled into one final document.

PRINT Magazine Cover

This was a class project to design a cover for PRINT magazine. The theme of the competition was "Design Culture Youth." I created the illustration of a daisy to symbolize the freshness of youth. Contemporary design is not bound by age, and the daisy exemplifies youthful ideas
at all levels.

Healthcare Logos

The scope of this project was to design a logo for a health care company. We each came up with a name and design brief for our company. These were my final solutions.
